"It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife." --Jane Austen, Pride & Prejudice
Like the host of other people, Mr. Darcy remains one of my favorite literary characters. While I could never quite envision Colin Firth as Darcy, I do feel that Matthew Macfadyen did him justice. For those of you unfamiliar with the plot and characters, I highly recommend reading Pride & Prejudice. Naturally, the language and behavior is quite a shift from today, but there is good reason why the book is widely considered the most romantic story of all time.
Various pencils, blending stump, itty-bitty low res reference pic that began to make my eyes bleed... ------------------------------------------------------------------------
UPDATE: If you like this, please take a look at a much newer Darcy work of mine [link] . I think it is the superior piece of fan art, but I'll let you decide.
This is a beautiful drawing.
Pride and Prejudice is indeed a wonderful story!
Mr. Darcy is surely one of the most precious of literary characters.
Good work!

The butter legion- a socialist movement/mass colab project I started, to trigger artistic change and evolution in Da artists (mainly my watchers), to make them more active and dedicated on DA. Now 170 people strong and growing... A "dangerous cult"? a "new religion"? "artistic version of fight club" or "communist movement"? You decide!
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
